Age: 25 Breast Augmentation
This is a 25 year old woman who is 5’2″ and 105 pounds interested in a breast augmentation. She is seen here one year after an augmentation with smooth, round moderate profile silicone implants (225cc each side), placed under the muscle from an incision in the crease beneath the breast.
This is a great size for her. Not too big, not to small–just right. Interestingly enough she was seen in the office about six months after her surgery saying that the right breast suddenly became firmer (contracture). On examination it was indeed firmer. There was no sign of infection or inflammation. I sent her home with instructions to take NSAIDS (Advil/Aleve) for 10 days and the problem went away. It may have been the result of muscle spasm as she is a personal trainer, and is right handed, and exercises her pectoral muscles vigorously. It has been my experience that women with breast implants will often experience periods of changes in their breasts including implants that feel softer and firmer. This is probably related to hormonal fluctuations, medial illness and weight changes. Sometimes even the most knowledgeable plastic surgeons don’t know why things occur.
Age: 48 Breast Augmentation
This mother of two is 5’4″ tall and 115 pounds. She has very small breasts that are high on her chest wall. We performed a bilateral breast enhancement with 300cc silicone implants placed beneath the muscle through an incision in the breast crease.
Age: 38 Breast Augmentation
This is a mother of two, 5’3″ tall and 116 pounds who desired a breast enhancement. She had very small breasts that were different in size and shape. She also had chest wall and rib asymmetries.
She was enhanced with 350cc silicone implants placed beneath the muscle through an incision under the breast. Note how the implants filled out her areola, dramatically improved the shaped of her breasts, and created the appearance of symmetry!
Age: 30 Breast Augmentation
This patient is 5’1″ tall and 110 pounds and desired fuller breasts. She was augmented with 275cc silicone implants placed beneath the muscle from an incision below the breast. She is an ideal candidate for a breast enhancement because she has symmetrical breasts with significant breast tissue. She chose a modest size implant that provides more volume and superior fullness for a very natural, almost perfect shape.
Age: 33 Breast Augmentation
This patient is 5’6″ tall and 130 pounds. She is quite athletic and trim. She has minimal breast tissue. She was enhanced with 375cc silicone implants placed beneath the muscle and her pictures seen here are at 4 months post enhancement. Note that her scars are flat but still pink. Her breasts look and feel quite natural considering her thin frame and larger implants. The scars should turn skin color after about a year and a half. She feels much more “whole” and more like a woman.
Age: 48 Breast Augmentation
This woman wants her breasts lifted and more symmetrical. Her breasts and chest wall are uneven. We discussed the benefits of an augmentation alone as well as a breast lift (Mastopexy). She would prefer not to have scars on her breasts if possible. One alternative that I recommended is the use of a high profile implant to provide for more lift and to help narrow her wide breasts
I performed a bilateral breast augmentation with silicone implants on top of the muscle (325cc on right and 350cc on the left) with the removal of 23 grams of breast tissue on the left (on the bottom and lateral side of her breast).
Notice how her breasts seem even in size and shape with an increase in superior fullness. This plan was a compromise of sorts, she can always elect to have a formal breast lift, but we are both very pleased with her improvement without a Mastopexy.
