Breast Augmentation

This 5’1″, 115 lb female patient was interested in a breast enhancement. She had narrow breasts that were far apart on her chest. She wanted larger breasts that were fuller, rounder, and lifted if possible.

She is seen here after a bilateral breast augmentation with 350cc HIGH PROFILE silicone implants placed under the muscle through an incision in the crease below the breast. Note the small amount of lift, an improvement in shape and fullness, and the natural appearance. She is pleased with the shape and doesn’t want a lift at this time. When she wears her bra she actually has cleavage that she never had before because of her widely separated breasts. The high profile implants were used in her case to provide for greater lift of the breasts.

Age: 44 Breast Augmentation

This is a 44 year old mother of three who is 5’6” and 134 pounds. She has three children. She was interested in a breast enhancement. Her right breast was larger and more saggy than the left side.

We discussed her alternatives at length. I told her about the benefits of a “lifting” procedure with scars, as well as breast augmentation benefits alone (and the difference between implants above and below the muscle). An implant placed above the muscle (subglandular) can be “set” down low, which will lift the nipple-areola complex more, but at the expense of an implant that tends to contract more, be more visible and be less supported by the muscle. A submuscular implant will contract less, behave better and be more natural. It could, however, sit up a bit higher, resulting in looser tissue on the bottom of the breast.

She elected for submuscular implants with the option that she can always have a lift later on if she wishes. She is seen here after 325cc silicone augmentation. The implants are placed below the muscle that is not cut at the bottom of the breast. I’m not a big fan of cutting the muscle because it will actually move higher on the chest and will no longer be useful to “hold up” the weight of the breast implant.

These photos are eight months after her procedure. Her breasts are attractive with much greater superior breast fullness. There is some loose tissue on the bottom of her breasts, but this is minor. She essentially has obtained a very nice result without the need for a lift (at this time). Five or ten years down the line, she may be ready for a lift after her breasts have fallen more with age and gravity.

Age: 32 Breast Augmentation

This patient is 5’2″ and 121 pounds. She was interested in larger breasts. She has no children. She was augmented with 420cc saline implants placed under the muscle through a small incision in the crease below the breast. She made it clear to us that she very much enjoyed and preferred the larger size implants. I was a bit concerned about the larger implant size with her figure because I worried that it would make her look heavier or more matronly. We are both pleased with her results. She wears an excellent support bra in order to maintain the perky appearance of larger breasts.

Age: 35 Breast Augmentation

This mother of two, 5′ 7″ and 122 pounds was interested in a breast enhancement mostly for superior fullness that would improve the appearance of her breasts in clothes. She has significant chest wall and rib asymmetries as well as breast asymmetry (the left breast sags more and is larger)

I performed a bilateral augmentation with smooth silicone 325cc implants and removed some breast tissue at the bottom of the left breast. I told her to expect asymmetrical results because of her anatomy and indeed, as can be seen in her post operative photos, there are some differences. Note the increase in superior fullness and greater symmetry compared to her pre op status.

Age: 38 Breast Augmentation

This patient, 5’10″ and 160 pounds desired a breast enhancement. She has two children. She specifically desires more superior fullness and larger breasts (like they were before the kids). She has attractive breasts in general. She has lost some superior fullness and has some excess fat on the lateral breast area and under her arm that I think makes her breasts look wider, less perky, and attractive. The left breast is larger than the right and is a bit more ptotic (hangs lower).

I performed a bilateral breast augmentation with high profile 450cc silicone implants placed beneath the muscle though an incision in the crease below the breast. I also performed liposuction of her lateral breast and under her arms and her larger left breast. The goal was to achieve a larger yet more youthful attractive breast. The high profile implant was used to create a more narrow breast with enhanced superior fullness. You can see from the preoperative photos that they are certainly larger yet not matronly in appearance. This is the sweet spot for her and she is very pleased. Unfortunately, she was not wearing a proper fitting bra and we encouraged her to visit with the brassiere professionals at Petticoat Fair.

Age: 20 Breast Augmentation

This woman had a breast augmentation using saline implants placed in the submuscular position through an inframammary incision. Because she had some chest and breast asymmetries; we placed a 275cc implant on left and 300cc implant on right.
