Female Liposuction
Liposuction
This is a young woman who desired arm contouring. She complained that her arms are far larger than they need to be. She has excellent skin. She is a great candidate for liposuction. She was contoured with standard cannula liposuction with a beautiful result.
Liposuction has been ruined by laser machines. I’m telling you folks, liposuction with a cannula in the hands of an expert is wonderful and predictable. Don’t lose your head in the fog of marketing when it comes to laser liposuction with “no downtime and with skin tightening”. Don’t be taken to the cleaners or worse!
Age: 45 Liposuction
This is a 46 year old 5’1” and 140 pounds who was interested in what could be done to improve her lower abdomen and her neck. After discussing all of the options at length, we elected for a liposuction alone of both her trunk and her neck.
She is seen here about one year after her procedure. I removed 4500cc of fat from her abdomen, back, flank and upper medial thighs. I also contoured her neck with liposuction as well. Her results are impressive. Her skin has retracted well, she has a big time shape improvement, she has lost weight and she feels really good about her figure. The improvement in her neck is obvious, with an impressive neck angle rather than “no neck”. She looks a bit more generous in her chest area because of the narrowing and shaping of her midsection. Her breasts no longer compete with the fullness in her midsection.
Age: 57 Liposuction/Breast Revision
This patient is 5’7″ and 178 pounds who was interested in body contouring procedures as well as fixing a right breast contracture. Click here to see her breast photos under my breast revisions section.
She is a fuller figured woman. The options that we entertained was liposuction and/or an abdominoplasty. For safety reasons as well as obtaining the best result, I suggested a first stage large volume liposuction followed by an abdominoplasty if she felt she wanted one. I felt that she had relatively good skin (particularly for her age) and the she would do very well with a liposuction alone.
She is seen here about eight months after a liposuction of 4250 cc of fat (as well as a breast revision). This was done with the traditional method using a cannula (still the best, despite what you hear). You can appreciate the remarkable difference. Her backside is like a different woman. Her abdominal area has done very well with a much flatter appearance and with very nice skin retraction. It isn’t perfect but it sure does look good! I don’t think she was interested in an abdominoplasty at this time. Do you think you would consider an abdominoplasty if you had this woman’s result?
Age: 31 Liposuction
This mother of one is 5’2″ and 132 pounds. She has a pear shape. She says she did a lot of homework and appreciated my website and my work and wanted liposuction. She had the typical pear-like figure with lipodystrophy about her hips and saddle bag area.
She is seen here about five months after a liposuction of 5000cc’s of fat. Her weight is unchanged. There has been a dramatic improvement in her shape. She is no longer shaped like a pear. I asked her if she got new jeans and what she did with her old ones. She told me “I never owned or wore and pair of jeans. I always wore loose black pants.” I just had to take a photo of her in her jeans.
Liposuction in the best of hands can be a transformational procedure. The results are always limited by the ability of your surgeon and the quality of your skin. Remember that when you are considering liposuction please choose your surgeon and not a machine or technique. This is the fasted way to an undesirable outcome if you believe that the machine is going to provide you with your result – believe me, you may be setting yourself up for an unwanted surprise. Liposuction machines are now marketed to provide you with outcomes that are simply not proven.
Age: 36 Liposuction
This is a 5’6″, 198 pound woman was interested in body contouring liposuction. Her area of primary concern was her knees and her goal was to get into a pair of nice jeans that fit well and she wanted to be able to fit into a pair of boots.
She had lost weight prior to visiting me in the office. She presented with some “issues” that we addressed during her consultation. After much consideration about her goals and expectations as well as her history and psychiatric issues, I felt that she was a reasonable candidate for a first stage liposuction. Although there were many complex issues that we had to deal with, I felt that she was mature, reasonable and motivated and as such I felt that there was an opportunity to have a very positive impact, while keeping her safe. Most of my consultation time in almost all discussions involves a thorough psychiatric and medical evaluation. Counseling and education is the name of the game. Even with significant weight loss she has true lipodystrophy of her hips and lower extremities that will remain large relative to the rest of her figure.
She is seen here after a liposuction of about 10,900cc of fat. This took about two hours (speed is important in these cases). She is now five months out from her surgery. Her weight is 166 pounds, she can wear normal jeans (she was a size 20 and is now a 9). She really enjoys that her knees are now much more normal in size. On the day of her photos she described to me how much easier it is to control and improve her weight by eating far less and getting more exercise. She told me that she was also dating now and you can tell this really excited her – she says she now has the confidence that she didn’t have before.
This is a large volume liposuction and should only be performed by experts. This is not a procedure for SMART LIPO or any other “gimmick” type liposuction. The recovery from this procedure is real and I expect patients to get up and about in order to prevent complications. Taking off the garment while standing quickly is the surest way for a patient to learn what it’s like to faint. For the first week you need to take it easy. Please read my Liposuction Literature to learn all about liposuction.
It’s also important to note that her skin has irregularities. She had an enormous amount of cellulite and irregularities before the procedure – she will certainly have them afterwards as well. Even with this large fat reduction her skin does not hang as some people believe occurs. This skin in most patients actually retracts quite well albeit imperfectly. This can set the stage for a second procedure like a skin tuck, tummy tuck, arm or thigh lift. Better yet for some patients is that they don’t need any additional procedures, their goals have been met and they are pleased with the improvement.
Age: 32 Liposuction
This is a female patient, 5’9″ and 147 pounds who was considering liposuction. She admits to being a “perfectionist.” As you can see from her pre-liposuction photos that she has an impressive figure to start with. Her weight is stable. We performed a finesse liposuction of her trunk, front and back as well as her upper medial thighs and her knees. She has gained about four pounds since her liposuction and she is aware of this.
This case illustrates a comprehensive liposuction (meaning I removed fat from many different areas). The issue was not as much about how much fat I removed but the artistic manner in which I contoured her fat without creating asymmetries or irregularities. I insist that all patients weigh themselves every day on the scale to make sure that they are maintaining an appropriate weight. The improvement in her figure has been created mostly from contouring about her hips, waist, and buttock area. I usually would frown on someone who tells me they are a perfectionist as it can be quite difficult to make these people happy but since I am very confident in my liposuction skills I proceeded in her case. Indeed, she is very happy with her results and would recommend the procedure to her friends.
Age: 49 Liposuction
This woman, 5’5″ and 160 pounds, was interested in body contouring options. She has some scars on her abdomen from colon surgery. I felt she would be a good candidate for a liposuction possibly followed by an abdominoplasty if so desired. She is seen here about five months after her liposuction of 5,850cc of fat. The remarkable aspect of her procedure is that she lost 30 pounds after her surgery!! She says that her liposuction gave her the self esteem that she never had and that she was able to lose those pounds with the help of Weight Watchers. She has gone from a dress size of 14-16 to a 6. This also happened during a stressful time of her life which is remarkable. She was able to turn a negative into a positive in a very big way. We are all so proud of her success and humbled by our ability to help facilitate this remarkable transformation.
Age: 48 Liposuction
This is a patient, 5’4″ and 155 pounds, who has two children. She was interested in liposuction for her fuller hips and “pear shape.” Her weight has been relatively stable only with a recent gradual increase of about seven pounds. She has good skin, is highly motivated, and I felt that after speaking with her for about an hour in her initial consultation, that she would be a reasonably good candidate for liposuction.
She is seen here after liposuction of her trunk and lower extremities (including her calves). I removed a total of about 8550cc of fat (larger volume liposuction) in two hours. Her original dress size was a 14 and now she is a 6 or eight. She say that the procedure has revolutionized her life and she is extremely pleased with her results.
Large volume liposuction should only be performed by an expert in handling these cases. Note the procedure was only performed in two hours–faster surgery means less “stress” on the body and safer outcomes. It is impossible to perform a large volume liposuction without at least some minor skin irregularities.
