Breast Augmentation
Age: 44 Breast Augmentation This is a very thin female patient who was interested in a breast augmentation. She has a history of a connective tissue disorder and wants saline implants because of the media hype regarding silicone implants (even though silicone has not been proven to cause connective tissue disorders). Because of her very thin tissue I told her she would likely develop some rippling of her implants and would feel them more easily. She was augmented with 300cc on the left and 275cc on the right (because of a slight rotation in her chest wall). She does have some mild rippling about the circumference of her implants, but it is quite acceptable and she is very pleased with her results. In her case, gaining weight would actually improve the feel of her breasts because she would also gain fat in her breasts (the fat would cover her implants even more). I encouraged her to wear a very supportive bra (long term) to transfer the weight of her implants off her tissue and on to the bra.
Age: 48 Breast Augmentation This female patient had always wanted a breast enhancement. We performed a breast augmentation with 375cc silicone implant placed in the submuscular position.
Age: 40 Breast Augmentation This female patient is mildly overweight and did not like the shape of her breasts or lack of superior fullness. We initially discussed an augmentation with a vertical approach mastopexy. However, on her second consultation; she decided she did not want the scars that come with a breast lift. When she tried on implant sizers, we thought any implant over 300cc made her look heavier and more matronly. We decided to modify the plan to accommodate her wishes. We performed a bilateral subglandular augmentation with 300cc silicone implants through an incision in the breast crease and performed liposuction of her lateral breast and underarm area in order to create superior fullness and some lift with the implant and to reshape and narrow her breasts with the liposuction. The arrow in the photo points to the area of improvement in the lateral breast with the liposuction.
Age: 22 Breast Augmentation This female patient desired fuller/larger breasts. She tried-on the implant sizers and preferred the larger implants. We discussed the fact that larger sized implants tend to be associated with more irregularities than smaller implants, but she was willing to accept this. Therefore, we performed a breast augmentation with 425cc saline implants placed submuscularly (below the muscle) through a small inframammary (crease below the breast) incision. She is very pleased. She has a moderate amount of superior breast fullness. This is not uncommon when a larger implant is used on a small framed woman.
Age: 47 Breast Augmentation This female patient desired a breast enhancement. She had relatively small breasts that are quite different in shape. Her right breast fold is at a lower level and is shaped differently. We adjusted both breast pockets to accommodate for this difference and used a 300cc silicone implant on the left and 325cc silicone implant on the right. Note the significant improvement in appearance and symmetry.
Age: 32 Breast Augmentation This mom desired improvements in her breasts. She has saggy, narrow and small breasts that are also quite asymmetrical. Her areolas are spread significantly. She was augmented with silicone implants 450cc on the right and 400cc on the left. She is seen here at five months from her procedure. We discussed the issue of the possible need of a lifting procedure if her augmentation alone did not provide for the best shape. She is quite pleased with her results. Although her results are not perfect note the dramatic improvement with implants alone and the correction of her breast differences and the more youthful appearance of her breasts.
