What
does this symbol mean?
When
you are searching for your plastic surgeon, make sure that he or she displays
the twin arcs logo of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Unless
this symbol is present, the physician is not really a plastic surgeon.
While other physicians may practice cosmetic surgery, only physicians
who are board certified in plastic surgery may display this prestigious
symbol.
A weekend course in plastic surgery is no substitute for the rigors of formal training. A plastic surgeon who is a diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery has accomplished residency training that is broad and long and thorough; their skills allow them to repair, restore and refine all areas of the body - from head to toe. Please be aware that there is no patent on the term 'plastic surgeon'. Any doctor can call themselves one. Only a real plastic surgeon can display the arc symbol. The symbol's design: The two arcs that are almost, but never touching, represent the plastic surgeon's quest for perfection in molding the human form. It is the symbol of searching for the ideal, of striving for beauty. It is the only symbol of excellence in plastic surgery. Back |
